Pastor Doug Buron is a San Jose native. Doug was introduced to Jesus just before his senior year in high school through the ministry of Young Life. This encounter with Jesus changed his view of God, himself and the world. He felt a call to ministry but had no idea what that was! Growth and clarification ensued and Doug spent the next 29 years as a coach, teacher, and/or youth pastor. Sometimes all 3 at the same time!
A 1975 graduate of Camden High School (now a lovely strip mall!), Doug went on to San Jose State University before finishing his degree at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida.
Doug started in ministry first with Young Life, then at Calvary Community Church in San Jose. Then went on the road doing training seminars for youth workers and speaking at camps, churches, retreats and conventions. Doug and his young family then spent the following 11 years at North Valley Christian Fellowship (Now LifeGate) in Milpitas, CA., and Victory Christian Center (Now VictoryChurch) in Oklahoma City, OK. They’ve been back home in California since 2004.
Doug, and his wife Debbie, have 3 daughters. Rebecca and Courtney are 22-year-old twins. Rebecca is finishing nursing school at Azusa Pacific University in SoCal. Courtney graduated with honors from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK. She is now a school teacher. The youngest, Shelby, is 19 years old and will start at Belmont University in Nashville, TN in the Fall of 2013. Debbie, a former “Missionary Kid” and a graduate of Bethany University, now teaches Spanish at Valley Christian Elementary School.
